Early on Saturday, authorities reported that a shooting outside a nightclub in Louisville, Kentucky, had left one person dead and seven others injured.
When first responders arrived at the scene outside H20 Lounge at 12:47 a.m., they discovered two victims of gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the Louisville Police Metro Department. A man who had been among the casualties was later declared deceased.
According to police, the second individual had serious, potentially fatal injuries and was brought to a hospital.
Six more victims, all of whom were adults, were later reported by medical personnel to have appeared at local hospitals after the incident. Aaron Ellis, a police department public relations officer, claims that all six were shot.
According to authorities, “those injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.”
There was no suspect information available to the police, and it’s not apparent how many people fired shots or what precipitated the incident.
According to authorities, “the relationship of the victims, if any, is not known at this time,” and the shooting is still being looked into.
There have been a number of shootings around the nation in recent weeks; just last Friday, the Gun Violence Archive has counted at least 21 additional mass shootings. According to the Gun Violence Archive and CNN, a mass shooting occurs when four or more persons are shot, not including the gunman.
