Following his departure from Stade Rennais in November 2023, Bruno Genesio has not been employed. The Frenchman is no longer the front-runner for the position, far from it, despite being heavily linked to the managerial opening at OGC Nice following Francesco Farioli’s departure to Ajax.
Franck Haise of RC Lens will fill the position instead. Haise confirmed to AFP that a deal had been reached in response to rumors that he, Nice, and Lens had reached one. Thus, Genesio keeps looking for a future club.
Still, there might be a chance at Al-Ittihad. According to L’Équipe, Genesio is on the shortlist to replace Marcelo Gallardo, who is anticipated to depart the team this summer. While Genesio is open to the idea of joining the Saudi Arabian team and collaborating with fellow countrymen Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté, he is not the only manager being evaluated for the position.
Al-Ittihad is also pursuing Max Allegri, who was fired by Juventus not too long ago, and José Mourinho, who is unemployed after leaving AS Roma. The latter is also a goal for Al-Qadsiah, who were just elevated to the Saudi first division.
