**Texas Secures Commitment from 5-Star Guard Aaliyah Crump**
On July 8, Vic Schaefer celebrated a significant recruiting triumph as Texas women’s basketball secured a commitment from five-star guard Aaliyah Crump. According to ESPN’s SC Next, Crump, ranked No. 4 in the 2025 class, chose Texas over Duke and Ohio State.
A standout from Minnetonka, Minnesota, Crump is the Longhorns’ first recruit for the 2025 class. She led her high school team to a 4A State Championship in the 2023-24 season, averaging 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists per game.
This commitment marks another major victory for Schaefer, who continues to recruit top-tier talent. Crump is the second consecutive five-star guard to join Texas, following Jordan Lee, the No. 9 recruit in the 2024 class. The 2024 class also includes elite recruits like five-star forward Justice Carlton and four-star guard Bryanna Preston, bolstering the Longhorns’ already strong roster for the 2024-25 season.
Texas is also targeting Aaliyah Chavez, the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class. Signing both Crump and Chavez would mark a historic milestone for Texas women’s basketball, potentially making it the most talented class in the program’s modern history.
