Arkansas New Razorbacks coach has done it again, John Calipari secure another Awesome star from a Big Ten school.

John Calipari and Arkansas secure a decommit from a Big Ten school.

John Calipari may have a new team, but he’s still excelling at what he does best: recruiting top high school talent.

On Wednesday, the Arkansas Razorbacks secured a commitment from Casper Chavis, marking the fourth incoming freshman for Coach Calipari. Chavis joins former Kentucky commits Boogie Fland, Karter Knox, and Billy Richmond.

Chavis, a three-star point guard ranked No. 177 in the class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, is a 6’3″ guard from Minneapolis. He initially committed to the Washington Huskies in November, choosing them over Georgia, Arizona State, and West Virginia.

After Coach Mike Hopkins was fired, Chavis was released from his NLI and decided to join a revamped Arkansas roster in Fayetteville, which now has only one returning player, veteran forward Trevon Brazile.

“I chose Arkansas because the coaching staff offers some of the best development in the country, and the community’s support for the team is incredible. Building relationships with the coaches made the decision easier. Coach Calipari’s track record of getting players in my position to the NBA also influenced my choice.”

Chavis will play behind sophomore DJ Wagner, who followed Calipari from Kentucky, as well as Florida Atlantic transfer Johnell Davis and Fland, the No. 18 ranked prospect in the class.
