Startling News: Steelers QB Arrested for Alleged Child Sexual Offenses.
Antonio Brown, the former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, had a tragic weekend when he was taken into custody in Broward County, Florida.
Due to allegations that he neglected to provide child support to Wiltrice Jackson, the mother of his daughter Antanyiah, Brown was placed under arrest on an out-of-county warrant.
The announcement follows days after Brown was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief, misdemeanor violence, and felony burglary conveyance arising from a different financial dispute.
October was not the first time Brown had gotten in trouble for missing child support payments, as he missed a $30,000 payment this spring.
Jackson spoke to TMZ about his pattern of skipping payments.
“I do want him arrested,” Jackson said. “Because, right now, he’s making a mockery out of the judge, out of everything, because he feels like he’s untouchable.”
Making a mockery out of things is something Brown, 35, has gotten used to. After becoming too much for the Steelers to deal with and protesting a trade to the Buffalo Bills, he was dealt to the (then Oakland) Raiders. He would soon be fined by the team and released, eventually landing with the New England Patriots. That too would not last long.
Perhaps most famously, Brown made an infamous exit from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster after parading around MetLife Stadium shirtless during the third quarter of a game against the New York Jets. Teammates expressed care for Brown but understood why Tampa Bay immediately cut ties with him.
Brown has faced accusations of domestic violence and sexual assault in the past, as well. While denying these allegations, he has claimed that his behavior can be connected to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a neurodegenerative disease often linked to professional football. CTE cannot be diagnosed until a post-mortem autopsy of the brain is done.
At the time of writing, Brown has been released on a $15,000 bond.
