**Brother of Maple Leafs’ $92 Million Forward Signs With Toronto**
Alex Nylander, brother of Toronto Maple Leafs’ star forward William Nylander, has signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. After becoming a free agent on July 1, Alex, unable to secure an NHL contract, opted to join the Marlies, the Maple Leafs’ minor-league affiliate.
Though Alex is now part of the Maple Leafs organization, he will need to sign an NHL contract to join the Maple Leafs, delaying the potential of playing alongside his brother William.
Alex, drafted eighth overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2018 NHL draft, has played 121 NHL games with the Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Columbus Blue Jackets, accumulating 25 goals and 24 assists for 49 points. Last season, he played 28 NHL games with Pittsburgh and Columbus, scoring 11 goals and 4 assists for 15 points.
