INJURY NEWS: Essendon key player suffered carer ending injury……
Injury news: Redman to miss, Reid set for surgery, Parish suffers setback
Mason Redman will miss Essendon’s King’s Birthday Eve clash against Carlton due to a minor hamstring strain.
The defender pulled up sore from the Bombers’ loss to Gold Coast on Sunday night, with scans on Monday confirming he’ll miss this week’s game from the low-grade strain.
At this stage, the club is hopeful Redman could return for the round 15 fixture against West Coast at home.
Todd Goldstein and Kyle Langford will have the opportunity to play against Carlton; Goldstein was rested in order to recover from a painful ankle sustained during the Richmond game the week before, while Langford was substituted out late in Sunday’s game due to a corked hip.
The duo’s availability for the Blues game will be determined by how well they do in this week’s primary workout.
Zach Reid will need surgery to repair a damaged pectoral muscle, which will keep him out of action for much of the 2024 campaign.
The 22-year-old sustained the injury while making a tackle in the third quarter of Essendon’s VFL match against Box Hill. On Monday, scans revealed the full nature of the injury, and surgery will take place over the next few days.
