Auburn football is about to land another stud – Auburn Tigers Podcast
After a near-four-month hiatus, Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers are set to return to the practice fields on Thursday for the opening day of fall camp.
The Tigers haven’t seen the practice field as a full team since the final days of spring camp in April.
And since then, plenty has changed as Freeze and his coaching staff continued to poke around the transfer portal and make a handful of late additions, while a handful of members from Auburn’s 2024 signing class are also now on campus after missing the spring.
Now with Auburn’s roster set and fall camp getting underway, here’s a look at 10 players who could turn heads as fall practice unfolds on The Plains.
Auburn got a major, post-spring-game addition in Penn State transfer wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who was one of the top available portal players at the time of his commitment.
As Penn State’s leading receiver last fall, Lambert-Smith, who arrives to Auburn as a fifth-year senior, hauled in 53 catches for 673 yards and four touchdowns.
All that said, we’ve yet to see him suit up in Auburn gear. And considering it’s been nearly four months since the Tigers have hit the field for an organized practice, Freeze and the Auburn coaching staff haven’t seen much of Lambert-Smith in Auburn gear either.
However, during SEC Media Days in mid-July, Freeze told reporters “there’s no doubt” that quarterback Payton Thorne feels “really good” about Lambert-Smith.
