Uruguayan Footballer Juan Izquierdo Shockingly Dies, Few Days After Collapsing On The Field
Izquierdo had been undergoing treatment in hospital ever since his collapse during the game against Sao Paolo on August 22.
Club Nacional Juan Izquierdo has shockingly passed away after collapsing on the pitch amid a Copa Libertadores fixture earlier this month due to an irregular heartbeat. Izquierdo had been undergoing treatment in a hospital ever since his collapse during the game against Sao Paolo on August 22.
The 27-year-old had been put on a ventilator on Sunday and was under neurological care since Monday. During the match with Sao Paolo, the youngster had been substituted during half time for ex Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates. While the fellow defender collapsed in the 84th minute, he did not come into anyone’s contact during the same. He received medical attention immediately and was rushed to the intensive care unit.
“It is with the deepest sorrow and shock in our hearts that the Club Nacional announces the death of our beloved player Juan Izquierdo. We express our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones. All of Nacional is in mourning for his irreparable loss,” the side’s official handle on X posted.
