Spotrac Co-Founder Projects Brock Purdy Land Massive Four-Year, $194 Million Contract With The Lions

Brock Purdy’s meteoric rise from Mr. Irrelevant to franchise quarterback could soon result in a massive payday. Michael Ginnitt, co-founder of Spotrac, has projected that the San Francisco 49ers signal-caller is in line for a four-year, $194 million contract, solidifying his status as one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

Purdy, who has been playing on a rookie deal that pays him just $870,000 annually, has drastically outperformed his contract. Since stepping in as the Niners’ starting quarterback, he has led the team deep into the playoffs and established himself as a key figure in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

According to Ginnitt’s projection, Purdy’s future extension would carry an average annual value (AAV) of $48.5 million, putting him in the same financial tier as other elite quarterbacks such as Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert.

The 49ers are currently in a strong position with Purdy’s contract, as he remains under team control for two more seasons at a bargain price. However, with rising quarterback salaries and Purdy’s consistent success, San Francisco will likely need to lock him down with a long-term deal sooner rather than later.

If Purdy does sign a deal in the projected range, it would represent one of the largest contracts in franchise history and a remarkable financial leap for a player who entered the league as the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The coming months will be crucial as the 49ers weigh their salary cap situation and potential roster moves while ensuring their star quarterback remains in the Bay Area for years to come.
