Fickell said he needs five quarterbacks on the roster. Without Van Dyke, he has four for 2025: Locke, Metteaur and incoming freshman Landyn Locke and Carter Smith. Both the newcomers plan to enroll early.
OLB Darryl Peterson announces return
Redshirt junior Darryl Peterson joined offensive linemen Riley Mahlman and Jake Renfro in declaring their plan to return to the Badgers next season. Peterson announced the news on social media.
“Finishing what I started! 1 Last Ride in Camp Randall. #OnWisconsin,” he wrote on X.
Peterson was a two-year starter who finished with 28 tackles, 12 solo. He has played in every game the
past two season with 18 starts.
