BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU has announced an ambitious $987.2 million project to construct a cutting-edge stadium in honor of women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the program. The decision follows Mulkey’s historic leadership in guiding the Tigers to their first-ever national championship in 2023, a feat she accomplished in just her second season at LSU. Additionally, Mulkey recently became the fastest coach in Division I history to reach 600 career wins, achieving the milestone in only 700 games.
The proposed stadium, set to be one of the most advanced basketball arenas in the country, will feature state-of-the-art training facilities, luxury suites, and fan engagement areas designed to enhance the game-day experience. LSU officials emphasize that the project is not only a tribute to Mulkey’s legacy but also a major investment in the future of women’s basketball and the university’s athletic programs
