“Coach Brohm’s ability to consistently put guys in the NFL really stood out to me, and I think the opportunity that school has and the way that program has trended in the last couple of years — to go win a conference championship was also really attractive. I think Coach Brohm does a really good job. There really were some parallels in terms of my high school situation just with playing with the Clausens. … It was a real family environment and something that I felt comfortable within.”

To date, the Cardinals have not received a running back commitment out the transfer portal.

Williams committed to Louisville on New Year’s Day.

 

Former Indianapolis North Central High School wide receiver TJ McWilliams was all set to play for Jeff Brohm at Purdue.

 

But when Brohm left for Louisville, McWilliams de-committed from Purdue and ended up signing with Minnesota. He spent two years at Minnesota but went into the transfer portal last weekend and has committed to play for Brohm at Louisville.

 

The 6-foot,190-pound McWilliams played in three games this season for the Gophers and didn’t register a statistic in two seasons with the program. He was a three-star prospect out of North Central and played in the 2023 Army All-America Game.

 

McWilliams was the No. 15 prospect in the state of Indiana and the No. 115 ranked wide receiver nationally by 247Sports.com in the ’23 class.

 

During the spring before his senior season, McWilliams earned an offer from Purdue when Brohm was the head coach. He then made an official visit to West Lafayette two weeks later and committed, picking the Boilermakers over West Virginia and others.

 

TIGHT END

To date, the Cardinals have not received a tight end commitment out the transfer portal.

Church was a one-time Louisville commitment, when he announced for the Cardinals in late June of 2022 and was still committed until just before then head coach Scott Satterfield left to take the job at Cincinnati. Once Church de-committed, he then signed with the Owls.

 

In the first season with the Owls, Church was a redshirt but then he started this season. He started all 12 games at left guard for the Owls and gave up just three sacks in 739 overall snaps. College Football Network had him on the third-team All-AAC squad.

 

Church started his high school career at Fort Myers, Fla., Dunbar but played his final season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. As a junior, Church was named a News-Press SW Florida Offensive Player of the Year nominee following a season in which he never gave up a sack from the left tackle position at Dunbar.

 

Carter Guillaume | Southeast Missouri

Transfer Grade: 84

HS Grade: —

 

The 6-foot-2, 285-pound Guillaume returns home to play for the Cardinals. He was an All-State performer at St. Xavier. This season at SEMO, Guillaume started every game at left guard for and was named to the FCS Football Central Freshman All-American Team after the campaign.

 

Guillaume helped lead an SEMO team that shared the Big South-OVC Championship and was ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation.

 

He announced his transfer to Louisville on Dec. 19.

 

Naeer Jackson | Florida International

 

Transfer Grade: 85

HS Grade: 77

 

The 6-foot-7, 320-pound Jackson is a native of Philadelphia but played his high school ball at Miami Killeen. He spent three seasons at FIU and started 24 games in the past two seasons for the Panthers, allowing zero sacks during that time.

 

Jackson saw some action at left guard against Arkansas, UConn and North Texas, but the rest of the time has played right guard.

 

As a senior in high school, Jackson led Miami Killian to a 12-2 record and a berth in the 5A Regional Championship Game. He played tackle in high school.

 

Mahamane Moussa | Purdue

 

Transfer Grade: 88

HS Grade: 83

 

Moussa was Louisville’s first transfer portal commitment this cycle.

 

He was part of Purdue’s 2021 recruiting class and spent two seasons playing for Brohm there and was still with the Boilermakers for the last two years after Brohm left. But after entering the transfer portal and visiting UofL, he said he was glad to reconnect with Brohm and some of the other coaches.

 

“It just felt really good,” he said. “It’s a really good place. I love coach Brohm and I just feel like it was the right spot for me.”

 

Moussa, a product of Indianapolis Pike High School, has started the last three seasons for the Boilermakers. He appeared in 40 games while earning 30 starts at left tackle and left guard throughout his four seasons at Purdue. This season he logged 655 total snaps at left guard for the Boilermakers.

 

Moussa also drew interest from Syracuse, Kansas, and Georgia Tech, among others.

 

Makylan Pounders | Mississippi State

 

Transfer Grade: 85

HS Grade: 86

 

Pounders spent three seasons at Memphis and one year at Mississippi State before transferring for his final season at Louisville.

 

Pounders has appeared in 30 games during his career with 18 starts. This past season at Mississippi State, Pounders made five starts and appeared in nine games.

 

A native of Byhalia, Miss., which is not far from Memphis, Pounders was a three-star prospect out of high school and also held offers from Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss but opted to stay near home and attend Memphis.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Bailey only played in four games this season, then took a redshirt. He has one season of eligibility left. He announced for Louisville on Dec. 14.

 

In 2023, Bailey had 27 total tackles with four sacks and 4.5 tackles for a loss. ScarletNation.com said coming into this season, the expectation was that Bailey could have an All-Big Ten caliber campaign. But the site said he now enters the portal “as a player who projects to be in demand.”

 

A former standout at Clearwater, Fla., Academy Internation, Bailey came to Rutgers as part of the 2020 recruiting class. Bailey was a three-star recruit who had offers from Illinois, Minnesota, and West Virginia among others.

 

Bailey finishes his time at Rutgers with 64 total tackles and 9.5 sacks.

 

Demon Clowney | Charlotte

Transfer Grade: 86

HS Grade: 90

 

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound announced his transfer to Louisville on Christmas Eve.

 

This season, Clowney finished with 26 tackles and two sacks for Charlotte.

 

Clowney was a four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md. He signed with Ole Miss and spent three seasons with the Rebels before transferring to Charlotte in 2023.

 

In his first year with the 49ers, Clowney had 33 tackles, including 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. He finished his time at Charlotte with 59 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.

 

Jerry Lawson | Abiline Christian

Lawson, a product of Breckinridge, Tex., High School, announced for Louisville on Dec. 17.

 

The 6-foot-2, 295-pound Lawson spent two seasons at Abilene Christian. He’s coming off a sophomore season that saw him record 65 tackles, including 14 for a loss and 5.5 sacks. As a freshman, he appeared in 12 games, with seven starts, and totaled 41 tackles, 5.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks.

 

Lawson was also hearing from schools like Oregon, Oregon State, North Texas, Tulane and Texas State.

 

A three year letter winner at Breckenridge High School, Lawson starred on both sides of the ball. During his career at running back, he totaled 1,637 yards rushing and 29 total touchdowns, while on defense, recording 147 tackles and 10 sacks.

 

Denzel Lowry | Old Dominion

Lowry announced his transfer to UofL on Dec. 28.

 

The 6-foot-1, 280-pound Lowry played in 38 games over four years at Old Dominion. He was selected as an all-conference performer for the past two seasons.

 

He is a native of Virginia Beach, Va., and earned second-team All-State honors as a junior and senior at Landstown High School.

 

He took a redshirt in 2021 but appeared in the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Tulsa at the end of the season and registered four tackles.

 

In 2022, Lowry played in all 12 games and registered 35 tackles, five tackles for loss, and tied for the team lead with four sacks. He was then named All-Siun Belt Confernece honorable mention in 2023 after starting all 12 games and leading the Old Dominion defensive line with 46 tackles. He also had five tackles for a loss and three sacks.

 

Lowry repeated the All-Sun Belt honors this season. He led the Old Dominion defensive linemen again with 51 tackles, three tackles for a loss, and 1.5 sacks.

 

Clev Lubin | Coastal Carolina

Lubin announced his transfer to Louisville on Dec. 21.

 

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Lubin amassed 44 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks this season as a sophomore at Coastal Carolina. He amassed 43 quarterback pressures in 207 total pass-rush opportunities, according to Pro Football Focus. He had 27 quarterback hurries.

 

After starting his career at Army, Lubin went to Iowa Western Community College for one season. He helped Iowa Western to the NJCAA D1 Football National Championship and was named a first-team NJCAA All-American. He had 55 tackles, including 31 solo stops, 23.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.

 

In his one season at Coastal Carolina, Lubin put up impressive numbers. He led the Chanticleers in both tackles for a loss and sacks.

LINEBACKERS

Kalib Perry | Tennessee

Perry announced his commitment to Louisville on Jan. 6.

 

Perry is originally from Rock Hill, S.C., but played his high school ball at Great Crossing in Georgetown, Ky., and had his best season with Tennessee in 2024. He played primarily on special teams during the ’22 season with the Volunteers he played 436 snaps on defense the past two seasons.

 

He’ll have one season of eligibility left at Louisville.

 

The 6-foot-3, 231-pound Perry totaled 61 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two blocked punts, and one forced fumble during his time at Tennessee.

 

In 2024, Perry recorded 26 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in 12 games with three starts. Perry made his starts against Florida and Alabama in October and then in the College Football Playoff first-round loss at Ohio State this month. He had four tackles against the Buckeyes.

 

Perry was rated a three-star prospect and ranked the No. 100 linebacker in the cycle by 247Sports when he signed with Tennessee as part of its 2022 recruiting class

 

Darius Thomas | Western Kentucky

A 6-foot-2 defensive standout, Thomas, who committed to UofL on Dec. 12, started all 12 games for the Hilltoppers during the 2024 season, leading WKU to the Conference USA title game. The product of Miramar, Fla., was fourth on the team in tackles with 54, while also registering 6.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks as he guided the ‘Toppers to the Boca Raton Bowl.

 

Thomas recorded a career high 10 tackles this year in a loss to Louisiana Tech and was credited with six tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks in a win over Kennesaw State.

 

Prior to missing the 2023 season due to injury, Thomas played eight games during his freshman season in 2022, which was highlighted by a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown. He recorded nine tackles that year and helped WKU lead the defense in forced turnovers and defensive touchdowns.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Justin Agu | Louisiana

Agu, who announced for Louisville on Jan. 3, spent four years at Louisiana and played in 21 career games for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

 

A native of Prairieville, La., the 6-foot-1, 182-pound Agu was a team captain and three-year letterman at Dutchtown High School where he also was a track star. He signed with the Rajin Cajuns in the Class of 2021 but didn’t make an appearance during the ’21 or ’22 seasons with the team.

 

During the ’23 season, Agu appeared in nine games while starting in three and registered 13 tackles with a tackle for loss and one pass breakup. He had a season-high seven tackles with a pass breakup in a win against Texas State.

 

This season, Agu played in 12 games and had 36 tackles, including 30 solo stops, two tackles for a loss, four pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. He had a career-high eight tackles in a win over Troy in mid-November.

 

JoJo Evans | Florida International

Evans committed to Louisville on Dec. 19.

 

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back comes to Louisville following an All-Conference USA season for the Panthers. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

 

Evans finished seventh in C-USA with 93 tackles and was fifth in the league with nine pass breakups. He also had two interceptions, forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery.

 

Evans, a product of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., began his college career at Marshall as part of the 2019 recruiting class. He signed with the Thundering Herd over scholarship offers from Buffalo, Kansas, Kent State, and Samford. He spent two seasons at Marshall, appearing in 17 games and recording 24 tackles.

 

He transferred to Kent State ahead of the 2022 season and started 11 games for the Golden Flashes where he finished third on the team with 83 tackles. He also logged 3.5 tackles for a loss, had an interception and forced a fumble.

 

Corey Gordan | Baylor

Gordan announced his transfer to Louisville on Jan. 4.

 

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Gordon played in all 12 games for Baylor during the regular season and started the final three. He had a total of 34 tackles, including 25 solo stops, two tackles for a loss, two pass breakups, and a team-best three interceptions.

 

He has two years of eligibility remaining.

 

A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gordon was a multi-sport star at Putnam City West High School. He played football, and basketball, and ran track and field. In football, Gordon played quarterback, and wide receiver on offense and all acro

ss the defensive backfield in defense.

Rodney Johnson Jr. | Southern

Johnson, who committed to Louisville on Dec. 20, played one season of football and track and field at Stephen F. Austin before transferring to Southern University, where he has spent the last three seasons.

 

The speedy 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive back is a former All-American on the track and ran a 10.6-second 100-yard dash several years ago when competing for S.F. Austin. He only played in three football games for the Lumberjacks in 2021 and had one interception that he returned 15 yards.

 

A second-team Phil Steele preseason All-Conference performer in 2024, Johnson had 43 tackles, including six tackles for a loss, five pass deflections, one interception, and one forced fumble this past season. He has 97 tackles for his career at Southern.

 

Johnson attended Edna Karr High School and was part of the four-time football state championship team. He was the 2018 200-meter state champion, was the ’18 200 and 400-meter national champion, and was a three-time track and field All-American.

 

Jabari Mack | Jacksonville State

Mack announced his transfer to Louisville on Dec. 20.

 

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Mack is a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and has spent three seasons at Jacksonville State. He posted 32 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions this season. Mack had four tackles in a game against Louisville back in September.

 

For his career, Mack has 62 tackles, including 40 solo stops, 15 pass deflections, and four interceptions.
