Columbia, SC – January 24, 2025 – The University of South Carolina has officially announced a contract extension for Head Football Coach Shane Beamer, keeping him at the helm of the Gamecocks program through the 2030 season. The new deal underscores the university’s confidence in Beamer’s leadership and their dedication to building a consistent contender in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and on the national stage.
The extension comes on the heels of a successful 2024 season where Beamer guided the Gamecocks to a 9-4 record, including notable victories over SEC rivals and a decisive win against in-state rival Clemson. This marked the program’s best finish in several years and generated significant momentum and optimism among the fanbase. Beamer was also recognized as the SEC Coach of the Year by the Associated Press for his achievements.
According to university officials, Beamer’s new contract will see his annual salary increase to $8.15 million in 2025, with a $100,000 raise scheduled for January 1st of each subsequent year throughout the duration of the agreement. The contract also includes a $5 million buyout clause, which decreases by $1 million each year. Since taking over the program in 2021, Beamer has compiled a 29-22 record and led the Gamecocks to bowl game appearances in three of his four seasons. Beyond the on-field results, Beamer is credited with fostering a positive team culture, excelling in recruiting – both in high school and the transfer portal – and developing players who have gone on to the NFL. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who showed significant promise in the 2024 season, is expected to be a key player for the Gamecocks in the upcoming years and is even being mentioned as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.
