QB Jeff Driskel, who was formerly with the Detroit Lions, receives a contract extension with the Washington Commanders to continue his NFL career.
Quarterback Jeff Driskel, who was cut by the Detroit Lions, has also found a new team in the NFC East, signing with the Washington Commanders. During his NFL career, Driskel has joined seven different NFL organizations.
Playing for both Florida and Louisiana Tech in college, Driskel’s football career got its start. His professional career began when the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the 2016 NFL Draft. Having played for multiple clubs including the Lions, Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, and Cleveland Browns, Driskel has since become a well-traveled quarterback.
Due to an injury to starting quarterback Matthew Stafford during the 2019 NFL season, Driskel made his first start for the Lions. Driskel, who started for Detroit against the Chicago Bears, completed 269 passing yards with one score and one interception. Later, in a loss against the Dallas Cowboys, he passed for 209 yards and two touchdowns.
