Miami was the venue for longtime friend Jayden Reed’s NFL Draft celebration. He had to be there since Thorne and Reed were teammates at Michigan State and Naperville Central High School.
“I was going to do a road trip with two of my other friends from Michigan State and then they had a last-minute thing where they had to bail,” Thorne said by telephone. “I looked at the airfares, and for some reason they were really pricey.
I thought, ‘You know what, I’m simply going to drive it.'” Though everyone thought I was nuts for doing it, it ended up working out.
After Green Bay selected Reed in the second round, Thorne made the decision toarrive in Auburn, Alabama, and locate a new residence.
“On a Sunday, I went into the (transfer) portal. I arrived here in an hour,” Thorne remarked. “I pretty much knew right then and there that I was going to be coming and I announced it a couple days later.”
