Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic not only delivers on the court but also off of it, as he turned into Santa Claus for just a day to throw a party and give out Christmas presents for pediatric patients.
Although the 23-year-old wasn’t there in person, he made sure that Wednesday was a day to remember for kids at the Scottish Rite for Children medical center.
He surprised the hospital’s 200 underage patients with a variety of toys that one could only find in the North Pole, including NERF guns, Jordan Brand clothing and goodie bags, according to TMZ Sports, while he was out of town, traveling to Cleveland.
The Slovenian’s averaged 33 points and 8.7 assists in 36 minutes this season, his most productive year since initially joining the NBA from Europe in 2018.
Despite the latest team loss, he made sure to raise spirits at the Scottish Rite by keeping children busy with daytime activities, including cookie decorating, face painting, photo booths and hot cocoa.
‘I hope this makes them happy and puts a smile on their face,’ Doncic told the outlet of the planned surprise. ‘They are so brave and strong, and I want them to know I’m thinking of them during the holidays and wishing them all the best in the New Year!’
