Given Boynton’s departure from the Cowboys after seven seasons

Oklahoma State transfer Brandon Garrison is scheduled to make a visit to the University of Oklahoma this weekend.

Will the Sooners secure the commitment of the former McDonald’s All-American center?

Could the Sooners be welcoming another transfer from their cross-state rivals? Brandon Garrison, who recently entered the transfer portal after his time at Oklahoma State, might be making the move south to Norman. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reports that the former Cowboy is set to visit Oklahoma this weekend.

Garrison, who was brought in by Mike Boynton, appeared in 32 games during the previous season for Oklahoma State, starting 29 of them. Given Boynton’s departure from the Cowboys after seven seasons, it’s understandable that the former McDonald’s All-American opted to enter the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-11 center posted averages of 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game in 22.7 minutes of play.

Given his outstanding high school career at Del City in Oklahoma, it’s not surprising that he’s considering staying in-state for college.

The potential transfer between rival schools within Oklahoma’s Bedlam rivalry is sure to generate significant discussion among fans of both teams. However, it could prove to be a beneficial move for Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners. Garrison’s arrival would address a notable gap in the team’s frontcourt, allowing Moser to focus on securing top-notch guard talent from the transfer portal.

As for Oklahoma State, this transition should be relatively smooth. With Mike Boynton’s departure and Steve Lutz assuming the coaching role, the program is entering a new phase in Stillwater. Garrison would have the opportunity for a fresh start with a team feeling the pressure to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
